Welcome to the Omaha Door & Window employment opportunities section. We are the largest garage door distributor in the Metro Omaha area. Our business was established in 1959. | GARAGE DOOR INSTALLER - Commerical |
|
|
| Inspects job site and determines headroom, side room and other conditions to see if door will work. Carries tools and sectional door parts onto job site. Larger doors require two persons to carry. Operates genie lift, winch or chain falls for heavy curtain doors. Levels door and applies locks and hardware. Stacks hardwared sections into opening. Assembles track and fastens to building by welding or with impact wrench. Using ladder or scaffold, carries springs to top of door and attaches to track. With a levered shear, cuts angle iron. Using ladder or scaffold, attach back hangers by welding or fasteners. Install electric openers and steel rolling curtains. Install dock seals, bumpers and shelters. |

| Replaces or repairs damaged garage door sections or steel rolling curtain slats. Garage door sections can be up to 32 feet long and weigh up to 200 lbs. Larger items require two service persons. Replaces or clamps broken torsion springs or extension springs. Springs can weigh as much as 120 lbs and be 5 feet long. Winds large springs with upward motion of arm. Climbs extension ladders or scaffolding up to 40 feet tall. Uses cutting torch and welding equipment. Makes simple adjustments to electric openers. Understands the principles of garage/curtain door operation. Can measure and correctly order replacement springs, sections and slats. Must use a circular saw, tape measure, impact wrench, and levered cutting shear. Collects payment upon completion of job. Completes required paperwork. |

Uses touch up paint over body putty. Uses jig saw to cut window kits into steel or wood doors. Installs window kits and other hardware onto doors. Loads and unloads material onto truck. | Installs wood, vinyl, clad, and metal windows. Installs swinging and sliding patio doors, storm doors and windows. Installs skylights, wood and metal walk through doors. Engages in finish trim work. Must work with plaster, insulation and caulk. Must be proficient in the use of carpenter's hand tools including tape measure, hammer, reciprocating saw, sander, skil, jig, miter, chop and table saws. Adapts products to fit building. Remodels building to accept product. Cuts into walls of various exteriors (wood, steel, vinyl siding or brick) to install product. Attaches product by means of nails, glue, screws, or powder activated fasteners. Cuts and fits tightly trim or brick molding to finish openings. Needs basic knowledge of electricity to move wires. Needs good knowledge of framing principles. Needs basic knowledge of how to operate a trim break. Collects money from customer upon completion. Must have a valid driver's license and be approved by Corporation's insurance carrier. Must be able to write and read printed page. Also sells patio doors, storm doors and windows, wood and metal walk through doors. Sells skylights and replacement sash. Is familiar with building and labor requirements, and selling features for the above products. Must be able to write and read printed page. Must be able to understand and effectively communicate the English language (both verbally and in writing). Can read blue prints and can take off details from same for bidding purposes. Submits specifications, such as number, size, model, etc. on a written proposal for customer. Inspects job site to verify measurements and feasibility of request and recommends changes for more efficient operation. Writes up orders and takes payment or deposits following established procedures. Follows department guidelines for paper flow and scheduling procedures. Follows company pricing guidelines. |
